N'Aldaan vs N'Aldaan (2021, sep, 25)

It was hard to belive its already 1.5 years since the first test of my system, but this weekend we had another great test.

This time it was 2 N'aldaan armies, app. 1000pts each, fighting without magic, allies and/or Heroes. It was a fun experience, with some long missed laughs and a handshake at the end...

First we deployed our armies on the table (won't call it terrain), placed our orders, then I won initiative.

I completely surprised Peter with my suicidal (and sort of foolish) charge with my light cavalry. (disregard the flipped Order at the Cannon, it was merely flipped for some rules discussion prior charge)

Then I used 1 of my Heavy cavalrys Orders, and handed over Initiative (Not sure players will do this...)

Peters Handgunners fired at my Heavy Cavalry killing 1/3 of the Unit.

Then his remaining Cannon Crewman fired into the Spear distanced Light Cavalry and his Monks moved into position for next rounds dealing with these foolish enemies. Various other Units was moved forward and as he used all his Orders I got Initiative back to flip my remaining Orders.

First I used my Heavy Cavalrys 2nd Order, and we had a discussion about Units Order handling. And Agreed that all Orders needed to be carried out at once. Which meant, that the Order System was changed slightly (see Orders) for in depth explanation. As it had no impact on the game, wether I had performed them differently I was kindly allowed to carry them out 😉

Then I moved my remaining army forward and the turn was over.

Turn 2:

We placed Unit Orders, Rolled Initiative which Peter won, and placed Generals Orders. As I wanted be ensure my Heavy Cavalry had a chance to DO ANYTHING before being rained and poked to death I spent 6 out of my Generals 8 Orders to reach the Unit and give them 2 Orders... very foolish to place Units thus far away from General and Battle Banners (Order extenders).

Peter used his Cannon Unit to fire at my Light Cavalry Unit and his Monk Unit to Charge and that was the end of my experiment...

Then Peter tried a charge against my Heavy Cavalry but failed.

Then he went for something I was also planning, not taking out the Battle Banners as we had talked about prior game, but taking out the General.

His handgunners had great success with their steady aims... and my General died.

Then his Pikemen Unit successfully charged my Swordsmen unit and at their preferred distance poked my lot... and a Shadow suddenly emerged and charged into the back of my Archer Unit placed at the lake shore. Only 1 of them survived.

His Orders carried out and my army on the brink of disorder -the initiative came to me.

I started with the absoloutly most important thing, could I with my Archer Units sole survivor, find the eye of his General... I rolled a 2... but had luckily, on Peters suggestion for Point equalizing bought a Combat Die Reroll... and rolled a 6... killing his General.

Then, just for the fun of it, I wanted to move the most expensively commanded Unit, and had my Heavy Cavalry charge the Archers that had so brutally slaughtered their comrades.

After these,  we agreed that we had the 'new system' under the skin and wanted to discuss the game and rules more than move Units around with only 1 Order each. So we calculated and I had lost app. 1/2, Peter app 1/3 of his army, so a win to him 🙂

Then we packed and had hot soup while discussing the game...
