Borgians
Legend
“Up and down, their power has gone, thick and thin in people’s minds—their knives still shine.”
History
Fourth Age
For a long time, it was believed that they were formed after the wipeout of the Bergons family, but in recent years, it has been revealed that he, his brothers, and some friends formed it some years prior. And they actually spent the first few years legit, but in 1151 they crossed the line into shady business.
The punishment was, in the minds of people, deemed harsh, and in the following 15 years, they grew in power. Managing to get the support of the lowborn in their raids and plunder, and the coin of highborn fractions needing head-crackers and throat slitters, was his mightiest deed.
A deed that was the culmination of hard work, good planning, and a ruthless hand in managing his organisation. So in 1166 Bergon became minister and the Borgians a de facto secret police.

Around 1220, the organisation had matured into the official secret police of the state. So the need arose for a cut between the secrecy gatherers and the throat cutters. So in 1221, Bergon gave orders to try to infiltrate and duplicate the Dark Needles. It’s known to be his biggest mistake ever, as Setil became so upset by the move that he broke a contract and released the son of King. Leoandry II. When returning to his father’s court, the crown prince called out Bergon as the mind behind the staged drowning years earlier.
This resulted in the organisation plummeting from power and several members publicly distancing themselves. Quite foolish, as those not punished by Leoandry II and Bergon spent proper time to round up and terminate. Licking wounds, cleaning house, and investigating the planted rumour, Bergon travelled to The Lair and faced Setil. The talk resulted in a truce, which allowed the Borgians to regain some of their lost power.
A power just strong enough, alongside newfound allies such as Lionels Five Fingers and the Holy Star Order, to prevent Meanbone and the Junnatu Weavers from going full force in the punishment of Bergon due to his role in the theft of Meanbone's Hearth.

It is said the Borgians played a vital role in revealing the Invader locations and in crippling their support lines.

Organisation
Bergon is the undisputed leader. Some say his sisters each control a part of the organisation, answering only to him.
