Alignment
Legend
“When Mana Links evolved and sprang into existence as Gods, and manipulation of the Mana Sea became their source of power, weaving changed.”
“For some it was too late, and they ended up as mindless husks of their Gods will.”
—Skjald Valgrif
Description
When a mana manipulator sets the mana sea in motion, to either form, or dissolve energies and steer its swirls into a desired result, gods are somehow energised. Many a manipulator slightly twist their utilisation of Magic Paths, so the gods either don’t notice the energetic manipulation, or deliberatly twist it so their gods takes notice.
Alignment is the subtle art of adjusting one’s magical manipulation to either evade, appease, or provoke divine attention. Every cast, every weave, every linguistic utterance sends ripples through the Mana Sea — and those ripples feed the gods. Whether a manipulator intends it or not, their actions may empower divine entities.
This academy teaches how to:
- Blur magical signatures to avoid divine notice.
- Twist energetic flows to favor specific gods.
- Balance manipulations across all eight Magic Realms to maintain neutrality.
- Displace magical effects to mask intent or redirect divine scrutiny.
Alignment is not about worship — it is about survival and strategy. Manipulators who fail to align properly may lose divine standing, suffer energetic backlash, or even attract direct intervention.
“She cast with elegance, but forgot to veil her intent. The god arrived before the spell finished.”
—Skjald Kazumix
This is done on a far larger scale than gods know about, even though they are divine and suspisious. But they don’t really care that much, as long as its done towards all 8 magic realms, and towards all gods; greater, contender, and lesser ones alike. Although it is important, when doing it, to not blunder and mis-twist as that annoyes gods to an extent where they could remove standings, or worse – come visiting. Anyways, its generally done by blurring ones weaving, linguistic intonations, and more.
“Gods disregard m0rtal schemes, unless they see their opposites strengthened.”
—Skjald Vinotis
History
Prior to the links transforming into gods, in the middle years of the Dark Ages, manipulators had begun to notice the mana sea either being, reluctant, twisting, or overly supporting towards their manipulations. The external influences grew the closer one manipulated to a mana link, or void garden.
As the gods emerged, these influences intensified and manipulators who cast too boldly near divine links, especially those that served as both links to large Void Gardens, astravel sites, and travel guides. These triplets at times even consumed, altered, or enslaved, the careless manipulators. Thus, the practice of Alignment was born — a way to cast without feeding, or to feed without consequence.
“Some argue gods were the first vampires, although with greater hunger.”
—Skjald Sejrik
Before the Mana Links transformed into gods, manipulators noticed strange behaviors in the Mana Sea — spells that twisted unexpectedly, energies that surged or faltered without cause or explanation. Forcint manipulators to evolved this discipline, and learn to navigate divine agendas and whims, using their casts to shift favor, avoid wrath, or subtly empower allies. The most daring even developed techniques to trick gods — and although most gods humor the feat, few manipulators lived on to teach them.
Through time, manipulators refined this academy, especially as some realised that what was not documented, most likely meant gods becoming aware. So a lot of discussions about what takes place and everything not documented as safe -is regarded the opposite and studied for avoiding.
“Some, brave or foolish individuals, at times write down and store their plans — and live to tell about their success.”
—Skjald Ulrich
Organisation
Alignment is taught through three primary disciplines:
Veiling
- Techniques to obscure magical intent and energetic signature.
- Includes Blurred Weaving, Lisping Linguistics, and Displaced Projection.
- Used to avoid divine attention or mask manipulations.
“A god instinctively peeked its head through an astravel gate, but it could see nothing — it was a displaced manipulation.”
—Skjald Sigurd
Balancing
- Techniques to evenly distribute magical influence across all eight Magic Aura Realms.
- Prevents favoritism and maintains neutrality.
- Often used by diplomats, scholars, and manipulators in contested zones.
Provocation
- Techniques to deliberately attract divine attention.
- Used to gain favor, challenge divine authority, or manipulate godly whims.
- Highly dangerous and often advised against.
“He cast a burst with a twist — and three gods blinked.”
—Skjald Sigurd

Alignment Rituals by Manipulator Type
Channelling Manipulators: Direct conduits of divine power, often risking overexposure.
The Spiral Vow
- Purpose: To declare allegiance to a specific god without triggering divine descent.
- Method: The manipulator weaves a spiral of mana around a Shard, intoning a vow in Vornirian, the divine tongue. The spiral must lean in all eight directions before settling.
- Effect: The god receives the vow as a whisper, not a thought — strengthening the bond without awakening divine scrutiny.
- Risk: If the spiral collapses mid-weave, the gods may interpret it as mockery.
Echo of the Hollow Flame
- Purpose: To channel divine energy without feeding the god directly.
- Method: The manipulator draws energy from a consecrated flame, then filters it through a Shard etched with neutral sigils.
- Effect: The energy retains potency but loses its signature, allowing safe use.
- Risk: If the Shard is flawed, divine feedback may burn the manipulator’s Aura.
“A vow whispered in eight winds is heard, but not hunted.”
—Skjald El Mary
Essence Manipulators: Work our worlds divine agents, often in symbiosis or negotiation.
The Pact of Petal and Pulse
- Purpose: To blur a temporary alliance with a divine agent.
- Method: The manipulator offers a living essence (usually a rare herb or creature) and synchronises their pulse with the agent’s.
- Effect: The agent overlook access to divine pathways for a limited time.
- Risk: If the essence is impure or unwilling, the agent may discover, retaliate, or sever ties.
Veil of the Twin Breath
- Purpose: To mask divine tapping during cooperative manipulation.
- Method: The manipulator and agent breathe in tandem creating a mana pool, then cast simultaneously while connected.
- Effect: The resulting spell appears without origin, preventing divine fingerprints.
- Risk: If breath sync fails, the spell may fracture and expose both parties.
“The flower bloomed in silence, and the god’s agent stepped forth.”
—Skjald Vinotis
Mentalists: Masters of thought and perception, often seeking to avoid divine notice.
The Thought Eclipse
- Purpose: To cast without forming notable ripples in the Mana Sea.
- Method: The mentalist constructs a mental labyrinth and casts from its center, using mirrored thoughts to distort energetic signatures.
- Effect: The spell emerges as a shadow of intent, unreadable to divine senses.
- Risk: If the labyrinth collapses, the mentalist may suffer psychic collapse.
Mind’s Cloak of Eightfold Silence
- Purpose: To blur divine memory of a manipulator’s presence.
- Method: The mentalist weaves eight silent thoughts, each tied to a different Magic Realm, and releases them in reverse order.
- Effect: The gods forget the manipulator’s most recent interaction.
- Risk: If the order is wrong, the gods may remember more than intended.
“She cast from within her own mind, and the gods saw only echoes.”’
—Skjald Sejrik
Arcane Users: Using energies of the Void to maintain neutrality and invisibility.
Glyph of the Unnamed Thread
- Purpose: To cast without attribution to any god or astral realm.
- Method: Inscribing a truename glyph using ink made from void dust, and casting through it.
- Effect: The spell is seen as a natural anomaly, not a divine act.
- Risk: If the glyph is noticed and deciphered, the user may be marked.
The Folded Sigil Rite
- Purpose: To store divine energy without activating it.
- Method: The arcane user folds a sigil into a multi-layered scroll, each layer representing a different realm. The energy is stored between folds.
- Effect: The energy remains dormant and undetectable until unfolded.
- Risk: If unfolded improperly, the energy may surge and alert nearby gods.
“The glyph shimmered, and the gods blinked — unsure if it was theirs.”
—Skjald Ulrich
Special
Bending does not… feed manipulator gods… but if they fail… agony galore.
“Seeing themselves being tricked, they surely dislike.”
—Skjald Kazumix
