Description

As the eldest daughter of the Olma Gate commander, Aetarnia has trained as a warrior since childhood, and her bearing reflects this training against more experienced opponents. The lessons from her training are evident in every move performed by the tall, strong-built, yet beautifully curved and well-endowed warrior. Her education in survival and vigilance is evident not only in her skill with fine steel swords but also in her brutal practicality with any weapon, tool, or item.

Her greatest desire is to protect the innocent, a fierce, almost primal instinct born from witnessing her father fight to keep enemies at bay. Her goal is simple: to carve a path of safety for those who cannot defend themselves and to find a place where her strength and beauty are a comfort, not a threat. Yet, beneath her stoic exterior, a deep-seated fear of failure gnaws at her.

Her only true relationship was with her father, a bond forged in shared duty and the unspoken understanding of their grim profession. Though he is gone, his teachings are her constant guide. Aetarnia carries a secret that can bring a moment of hesitation during a pivotal fight that she has never confessed. Overcoming that flaw is what fuels her relentless search for perfection and her constant struggle against monsters, without and within.

So now she stands tall, bearing herself with much pride and self-awareness, even for a Rimzir. Her long fiery orange-red curly hair adds an extra touch to her powerful appearance.

“Many a tavern dreamer longing for her beauty has tumbled backwards when she declined their offers.”

History

Fourth Age

Born amidst the biting winds of a northern fjord, Aetarnia grew up under the shadow of her father, the formidable pass commander. Even at birth she was tall, and as she matured into the muscular, well-fighting beauty she is today, she just kept surpassing everyone in the settlement. Her childhood was filled with ice-hardened lessons and the guttural roars of creatures repelled from their village. Tall and powerfully built, even as a girl, she was destined for more than hearth and home.

Around 1177, her father began to notice the strong spark of a warrior in her and personally trained her with both the fine steel of balanced swords and the practicality of axes and shields. And around 1180 she wielded two-handers as if she had been born with them. Her education was one of survival and vigilance, honing her into a skilled monster slayer.

It’s said she gained new eyes on the world when, in 1201, she was on a journey with some monster hunters across the border of Nabkixo down to Spiy. As she was travelling home, the sole survivor of the team, she met the Pilgrim and Yell'a'Beard. After a couple of days sharing stories, ale, food, and time at the Howling Hens Hutty, they parted, and she travelled back home.

There’s not much known about what she did up until the 1st Alliance began to stir. But some sort of disaster related to The Torch made her join their cause. As their city was razed during the conflict, there are no records to study, and she won’t tell – seemingly it was a loss of something close to her. And since it was not her parents’ demise, we guess it might have been a child lost.

Her hate towards the Torch was strong, and often she slayed even those who surrendered. Yet as she was extremely valued, she was never reined in. And when the war ended, it’s said she was allowed to execute three raiders personally; one claimed to have uttered a “sorry for the slaying” right before his head fell off.

As the peace instilled by the Realm in 1250 didn’t allow for much use of the weapon gifts, she became a monster hunter and was often away. In 1256, upon returning from one such trip, she discovered that her town had suffered an attack, resulting in the death of her family, despite her being from a commander’s household. When she pried into it, rumours revealed that her parents had borrowed money to pay for her adulthood gifts back then, and this debt was the reason why her family had become the target of shadowy force retribution. The sorrow of losing her family and the guilt she felt for being the cause of their tragedy plunged her into deep despair.

In 1258, she came to realise it was not her fault – it had been her parents’ choice to gift her so expensively. But their punishment and the loss of her siblings had to be avenged. Besides, shadowy powers could not be allowed to slay a Rimzir-commanding noble, so she began searching for the slayers, and both alleys and taverns ran red.

Years later, in 1277, she suddenly felt a disturbance of energies within. Unsure what it was, she dressed for combat and found her grand gifts. Uncertain about the disturbance, she opened the door to take a walk and saw a gargantuan, long-snouted, wholly monstrous creature rampaging down the street towards her. Ears flapping, trunk howling, eyes wide and rolling, and two great tusks ready to gut her – she smiled and charged the Gaji-Kulat.

She participated in the great invasion and is still doing the Cleansing Crusade.

“Wild fury unleashed in a more determined path is seldom seen.”

Organisation

Besides having been one of the Oktogon’s monster slayers and sergeant of the Olma Gate guard before the invasion and briefly a recruit and student of Ye Olde Zephyrs, she is not a member of any organisation.

“Free from bonds and focused on destroying shadowy forces, she is a favoured noble.”

Special

She can do exceptional combinations with axe and shield.

“Wardancing, although not normally a Rimzir trade, is her mark.”
