Legend

“Even though they are a divine race, they have but a limited lifespan, unlike the astral divines. Making them slightly impetuous and rash.”

“In mortal flesh and bone, powers divine greatly shine.”

Skjald Valgrif

Description

They are mana manipulators of organic origin, somewhat similar to Wickeryadii, although not flora but masses of flesh, bone, blood, or similar gifted basic element, with spirit and mind. They have never tended any races or keept nature, and have only loosely delt with the Archaic and some Alfar. Becoming an apprentice or practioner of their arts is exceptionally rare.

Their builds varies, some are large, some small, and some are such horrors to behold that mortals have died seeing them. Like the other void-divines they have a lifespan, but they are not reinkarnated. When their slow decomposition process ends, their animation simply halts, and their mind and soul vanishes-and their carcasses start to rot.

No clear picture exist of what it really is they are, besides being void divines of organic matter. The have steered free of most great bindings and as such has been doing what they felt for during all the grand historical events which gas unfolded.

They are one third of the void-divines, the Wickeryadii another third, both animate, and the last third are the inanimate Stoichean.

“Contradictory to most other divines, their void-elementness kept its upper hand when tainted.”

—Skjald El Mary

History

Dark Ages

Their rather crude build has made the other divines to believe that they, alongside Stoicheian and Wickeryadii where the first generation of divines, and that Boriac and Vornir originates from them but evolved further due to entering the astral. Regardless, they are from the earliest times of the Dark Ages. They have generally avoided visits to the astral, as they are the divines that dissolves the fastest at the astral. Instead they stayed in the void, creating their own lairs and keeping an eye on Archaic settlements. After several milennia focusing on the Archaic, they began showing interest in some of the N-erectus races, especially the Ljost Alfar.

Time passed and they helped bridge Archaic and Alfar knowledge, some very interesting creations such as Steelthorn sprang from this. Originating from the Wickeryadii creation Ironthorn. Guided by Sarcian, the Archaic and Ljost Alfar found a way to make it even more durable. The Archaics knowledge, their crude appearences aside, it what has kept them alive—and interesting.

A while after the vampiric birth, the sarcians became interested in what really happened and they began visiting quite a lot of vampires, wickeryadii, and gods. The se visitis was a slow process, so to ease their travels, they began using astravel. With the aid of Archaic, and Boriac advise, they erected several new astravel sites/gates. This proved a win as not only did they speed up travels for everyone, but at the sites they also encountered several tribes.

Then, they all created our world.

“Just as interest in the greatest riddle arose, the void gardens were folded.”

—Skjald Ulrich

First Age

The new world became their focus and the vampire riddle faded. They didn’t care about the darkness that came but as none of their kin was eager to hold the ‘seats’, they championed of the Sun and Moon. Willingly adding a slight flow of power to the Stoicheian twins.

After a long period, when some of the Ljost Alfar they had taught much, Alosaka, Enapay, and Kemein, which had become vampires and in 3883 became involved in the Vampiric War. The Sarcian again began investigating what could have triggered that old odd transformation. But their interest merely added to the tensions between races and divines. So, in 3967, when the 1st Cataclysm blew the lid off everything civilised, they called foul play and quickly sided with the vampires.

“Envious gods at play, to bathe in mortal pray, didn’t have the final say.”

—Skjald Sigurd

Second Age

Their side having a vampiric ‘victory’ was though not cherished, as the world had suffered greatly. Especially the Archaic had lost quite a large number, and a few of the subspecies was close to extinction. This made quite a lot os Sarcian become guardians of Archaic settlements, and although they tried to act remotely or in the shadows, the Archaic tribes came to know that they where present and thus did amulets, totems, statues, and reliefs in their image become sacred relics for the Archaic

As the Sarcian heard of Jilliabina the Wickeryadii’s encounter with a huskless spirit, they began searching the void for more of these. Soon they realised it was energies from the torn Vornir Eyes, called Fylgia, they were searching. Much to their surprises the Archaic knew quite a lot of these fylgia lairs—but shunned them. As the in some cases killed visitors, or possessed them.

Although Wickeryadii and Stoheicans where the first to hunt, it’s said that it was Sarcians persistent searches, numerpus findings, and bondings, that formed the fylgia’s eagerness to search out already living husks. Wether this is true or not, is hard to tell and verify—but fylgia and Sarcian do share strong bonds, even stronger than fylgia have with their origin kin-the Vular.

“Finally they found their call as they became shepherds of spirits large and small.”

—Skjald Sejrik

Third Age

Then came the bullheaded god and its followers. The god as such of no importance but its followers became a two sided sword; as the Rimzir had a natural talent for mastering Fylgia they of all mortals grew closest to the Sarcian, but the Jomzaar on the other hand built a obscure habit of making large raids and hunts to not only best Sarcian -but slay them.

“The entire third age went by, teaching some, and fighting others.”

—Skjald Yell'a'Beard

Fourth Age

The Deep Blue Tsunami brought horror not only to all mortals, but also to the Sarcian. Some of their kin, recently deceased and decomposing, was flushed by the tainted waters and sparkled into existence again. Most of these, their nature in mind, has spent their time since trying to figure how they can be, but a few lost their sences and became power hungry opressors and has created some really nasty realms for themselves. Often dominating Arisen hordes, but also opressing the living into submission.

The other sarcians decided to only act united against them in case these arisen sarcians attacked some of their living kin. For groups of sarcian, often with allied groups of lordly rimzirs, both having a plenitude of fylgia, it was rather easy besting these fylgia-less solo sarcians. Thus, the most crazed of those are gone now.

In the beginning of these hunts, they also derailed in case lich lairs or realms would be near, as they did not condole these self made immortals. But in 114, the very first time a lich bested a sarcian and gained its powers, they stopped those hunts and left lich slaying to others.

“Oh the might Uzhann Mazkal gained, when she bested Tiancri Turak.”

—Skjald Ulrich

Organisation

The flesh and bone are but the top of the mountain, a far deeper and more diverse lot are found among the sarcian. They are without any leader, and only seldom act jointly.

“Such an odd lot, these powers divine—not even fighting for power, they merely exist—for some balance thing.”

—Skjald Kazumix

Special

Each is an both an Arcane manifestation and immune to those energies.

“Don’t try to knee-bend using their own—as they will be strengthened further.”

—Skjald Vinotis
