Legend

“They came from The Void, but touched by leaks from the Astral, they changed. They entered the Astral, came back out, and formed our World.”

Skjald Vinotis

History

Dark Ages

When energies leaked and gave birth to things outside the astral, some of these were tainted further and became animated creatures. Some of these, able to think and wonder, took notice of the leaks and moved close to study them. Thus, they became tainted even further, and some perished or became monsters. Others transformed into beings of such an energetic level that they are now considered among the Divine Races. Some of those became so intrigued that they sprang into the leaks and thus entered the Astral. How long they lingered and studied there is unknown. But it is said that it was in there that they realised that the Astral—or the Void—was spinning in a cyclus, which they later used to define time.

After a while, some came back to the void and studied how leaking or purposefully bringing Mana reacted to the void. Most of the time, they Tracked in the Void or Hunted for previously unknown things or beings. Findings were either destroyed or brought to those who stayed within the astral, so true names and fate could be determined. Or to their ever-growing project—our world. A world that in the beginning was scattered across the void, then connected by Astravel paths, and finally moved physically in the void to form one gargantuan landscape

Their travels and studies were so intense and long, and the others who stayed within the astral were so obsessed with ‘their mother’s role’, swirling, shaping, spinning, truenaming, and attaching fate to everything. They both evolved from their void shapes and are now, aeons later, two different Races: Boriac and Vornir.

When the Boriac first met the Archaic mortals, they interacted with them in person. Then later, with the N-Erectus and their own offspring, But after the shaping of the world, they have preferred to alter environmental circumstances and study the effect they have, or in similar subtle ways, test their ideas, on other lesser-known beings. Unlike the Gods, it’s never to enhance themselves, but seemingly just to study the interactions of astral, void, and their project—our world.

First Age

After they formed our world, they became a remote lot, hardly ever seen, and as good as never interacted directly with anyone of the races. Especially since the Hymn of Truenames, they have become remote. Thus, there are very few alive who have met them and can recall how they looked and behaved. Especially since many of those perished in the 1st Cataclysm, the vular war where Mt. Vula erupted, Ljostari sank, and the Deep Blue Tsunami swept the world, as well as in The Great Invasion.

Luckily, due to our position and value of work, a few of us Skjalds have had the opportunity to talk and discuss with a few of the Boriac.

Organisation

They seemingly have no social system, yet they can be encountered in small groups.

Special

They know and master the entire Magic Wheel and all its Magic Paths, and they know almost every Truename.
